Designed to provide high-speed connections for server farms or as user-aggregation solutions in fiber-based network infrastructures, the high-performance Fast Ethernet ER16-HFX31-24 and ER16-HFX39-24 switch router modules for the X-Pedition ER16 provide 24 ports of 100Base-FX connectivity via MTRJ connectors. The modules can operate in full duplex or half-duplex mode, and each port may be configured as a switched or routed port. The ER16-HFX31-24 module supports multimode fiber, while the ER16-HFX39-24 supports single mode fiber.
The ER16-HFX31-24 and ER16-HFX39-24 switch router modules deliver full-function Layer 2/3/4 switching, wire-speed Access Control Lists and end-to-end Quality of Service, rich features that enable network administrators to easily expand their networks without replacing existing equipment.
Both modules also support advanced management including per-port RMON/RMON2 and traffic accounting via industry-accepted protocols such as the NetFlow Traffic Accounting protocol. In addition, any number of ports may be trunked together for physical link fail-over. Routing protocols provide support for multiplepath fail-over, and VRRP provides network availability in case a single device fails. All these features combine to build a fiber-based infrastructure that scales to meet business needs.
